Overview
Am I Going Broke? is a personal cash-flow and budgeting projection tool made by an independent developer. Your financial plan is stored locally in your browser by default. The app does not currently operate a backend server, database, or backend API that receives or stores your financial plan.
Am I Going Broke? is not a bank, lender, investment adviser, tax adviser, or financial adviser.
Information you provide
The app may handle the following information when you use it:
- Financial planning data you enter, such as balances, income, expenses, recurring bills, goals, dates, notes, and projection settings.
- Browser preferences and backup metadata, such as theme choice, Google Drive connection status, backup file ID, and last backup time.
- A short-lived Google access token when you choose to connect Google Drive. Access tokens are kept in memory and are not stored in browser storage by the app.
Please do not enter highly sensitive credentials or identifiers such as bank passwords, full account numbers, credit card numbers, Social Security numbers, or tax IDs.
How information is used
Your information is used only to create and display your cash-flow projection, remember your local preferences, and perform backup or restore actions that you request.
The app does not sell personal information or use your financial data for advertising, profiling, or marketing. It does not currently use advertising trackers or analytics.
Not financial advice
Projections are estimates based on the information and settings you provide. They are for personal planning purposes only and may be incomplete or inaccurate. Do not treat them as financial, investment, legal, accounting, or tax advice.
Google Drive access
Connecting Google Drive is optional. When you connect it, the app requests the
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.file scope. This limits access to
backup files the app creates or files you explicitly make available to it. The app
cannot browse or access your other Google Drive files.
Backup data is transferred directly between your browser and Google Drive. It is used only to save or restore your backup when you request it. The app does not share Google user data except as necessary to provide that user-requested backup or restore functionality, comply with applicable law, or protect security.
The app's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy , including the Limited Use requirements.
Local storage and retention
Your plan remains locally in your browser unless you choose Google Drive backup. Clearing or deleting browser storage may permanently delete your local app data. If you create a Google Drive backup, it remains in your own Google Drive until you delete it.
No method of storage or transfer is completely secure, so absolute security cannot be guaranteed. Protect access to your browser, device, and Google Account.
Hosting logs
The hosting provider may automatically collect standard technical logs, such as IP address, browser or user agent, requested pages, timestamps, and error or status codes. These logs may be used for security, troubleshooting, and basic site operation. They do not include the financial plan stored locally in your browser.
Future analytics
The app does not currently use analytics. If privacy-respecting analytics are added later, this policy will be updated before or when that change is made.
Your choices
- Use the app without connecting to Google Drive.
- Use “Start over” in the Data menu or clear browser storage to delete local data.
- Delete app-created backup files from your Google Drive.
- Revoke the app's Google access in your Google Account.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated as the app changes. Material updates will be reflected on this page with a new effective date.
